<p>PURPOSE:To accurately detect an overlapped part by a simple constitution by a method wherein distances from the surface and the rear surface of a line up to the upper surface and the lower surface of a belt-shaped material are measured and the plate thickness of the belt-shaped material is operated by using two measured values. CONSTITUTION:An upper-part range finder 4 and a lower-part range finder 5 are installed respectively on the surface and the rear surface of a line at a mounting interval S(mm). A distance x1 up to the upper surface of a preceding strip 1 is measured by the range finder 4, a distance x2 up to the lower surface of a succeding strip 2 is measured simultaneously by the range finder 5, and a plate thickness tx(mm) at the overlapped part of the strips 1, 2 is found by a plate-thickness operation device 6 by means of a formula of tx=S-(x1+x2). Then, an overlap judgment device 7 sequentially compares the found plate thickness tx with a prescribed reference value, and the position of the overlapped part of the strips is judged. Thereby, the overlapped part can be detected by a simple constitution.</p> |
