PURPOSE:To provide the title resin which can be stored without allowing crosslinking due to water and without detriment to moldability, provide the title method by which the resin easily crosslinking during storage can be stored without being crosslinked, and produce a crosslinked foam excellent in appearance and dimensional stability during aging. CONSTITUTION:The resin excellent in storage stability is produced by thermally reacting, in the presence of a free-radical generator, a synthetic resin with a silane compd. having groups reactive with free radical sites occurring in the resin and simultaneously adding a water-absorbing inorg. substance to 1 the reaction mixture during the reaction. The inorg. substance inhibits the 1 crosslinking of the resin during storage. A crosslinked foam is produced by melt kneading the resin contg. the substance under a high pressure and foaming the resin under a low pressure.
