PURPOSE:To provide a device capable of automatically judging the upper and lower stages of the same paper feed unit. CONSTITUTION:In an image forming device, a paper feed unit PF-1 and the same paper feed unit PF-2 are laminated and arranged on the lower side of a printer so that the sheets fed from each selected paper feed unit can be fed from the lower side of the printer, and a pass unit allowed to communicate between the sheet feed port on the lower side of the printer and the feed port of the paper feed unit PF-1 to guide the sheets to the printer is constituted in such a manner as to be attachable to and removable from the paper feed unit PF-1. The judgment cord of lower stage unit is preliminarily assigned to each paper feed unit, and this device has a changing means for changing the judgment code to the judgment code of upper stage unit when the pass unit is installed, and a judgment code detecting means for detecting the judgment codes of the paper feed units divided by the changing means, respectively, and judging the upper stage or lower stage. |
