<p>PURPOSE:To provide space saving in an engine room or under body floor and improve exhaust gas purification efficiency of a catalyst, in the exhaust pipe structure of an automobile provided with a first and a second exhaust pipes where catalysts are disposed respectively and which are selectively used according to an operating condition, by forming a flexible joint part which is required for this kind of exhaust pipe at only one position. CONSTITUTION:The first intermediate exhaust pipe 12 for low engine speed where a three-way catalyst 18 is disposed downstream thereof is inserted into the second exhaust pipe 13 for high engine speed where an NOx catalyst 18 is disposed downstream thereof, both the exhaust pipes 12, 13 are integrated for heat exchange, and a flexible joint 20 for both the exhaust pipes 12, 13 is formed at the integrated part.</p> |
