PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording material containing magenta coloring matter having excellent color reproducibility and light resistance by providing a thermal layer having the magenta coloring matter to be expressed by a specific general formula on a support body. CONSTITUTION:Magenta coloring matter to be expressed by a formula I (R1 express a group having a Hammett substituent constant deltap less then 0.2, X and Y express a nitrogen atom and a carbon atom which is a substituent for -S(O)nR2, R2 and R express a hydrogen atom or substituent of non-metal, expresses 1 or 2, m expresses an integer of 0-4, A express an amino group and hydroxyl group, and Z expresses an atomic group which forms an aromatic ring together with carbon atoms) is dissolved in a solvent together with a binder such as polyvinyl alcohol or dispersed in a state of fine particles so as to prepare an ink. A support body such as thin paper or plastic film is coated with the ink and dried so as to form a thermal layer, thereby obtaining a thermal transfer recording material. On the rear face of the support body, a slipping layer may be provided in order to prevent a head from adhering to the support body. |
