An optical pickup device for an optical recording/reproducing apparatus includes a stationary optical system unit, an objective lens, a leaf spring type focusing actuator, an optical path changing unit, and a carriage. The stationary optical system unit emits a laser beam and reads an error signal and a data signal from light reflected by a recording medium. The objective lens focuses the laser beam from the stationary optical system onto the recording medium. The leaf spring type focusing actuator drives the objective lens in only a focusing direction. The optical path changing unit changes a course of the laser beam emitted from the stationary optical system unit to the recording medium through the objective lens and also changes a course of the light reflected by the recording medium to the stationary optical system unit. The carriage has the focusing actuator and the optical path changing unit mounted thereon, and moves for moving the objective lens in a tracking direction.
