In purificn. and deodorisation of gaseous effluent in drainage systems. A collection station(1) is connected via a pump(2) and recovery pipe(3) to a gravity flow drainage circuit(4) with at least one manhole(15). Effluent is diverted into a purificn. and deodorisation unit(6) located by at least one manhole(15) and the treated gaseous effluent evacuated(12) to atmos.. Pref. the gaseous effluent is diverted via a fan(7), suction can be in the direction of flow of waste, opposite to direction of flow or both. The fan operation is cyclic and driven by the pump(2) or by arrival of waste at the gravity flow circuit(4). The fan(7) continues to operate after waste has ceased to arrive at the circuit(4). USE/ADVANTAGE - Elimination of foul odours emanating form drainage systems, partic. sulphide derivs.. Prevention of corrosion. Prevents formation of sulphuric acid in system thus reducing corrosion. 100% hydrogen sulphide removal by reactor. Low maintenance, low energy cost, automatic operation.
