METHOD OF PARALLEL CONTROL

PURPOSE: To provide a new parallel control method which reduces unnecessary lock conflicts. CONSTITUTION: With respect to wait depth restricted parallel control used in a multi-user data processing environment, the depth of a wait tree considered for resolution of conflicts is restricted to a preliminarily determined depth. This control is executed on a computer system 10. In an example in a centralized transaction processing system, information peculiar to transactions represented by a real function L is used to determine which transaction should be restarted in the case of a conflict between transactions exceeding the preliminarily determined depth. In a distributed transaction processing system, a current length L(T) of a transaction T is based on the start time assigned to each global transaction, and a start-up message of each subtraction is included in this start time.
