PURPOSE:To realize an image pickup device having a focusing detecting means whose cost is low and which is stable by using an image pickup element used for image pickup as for the image pickup device picking up the image of an object. CONSTITUTION:As for the image pickup device photographing the image of the object by using a photographing lens 1 and the image pickup element 2; the autocorrelation coefficient of an output signal outputted by the image formed on the image pickup element 2 by a luminous flux passing through a light shielding plate 101 provided in the optical path of the lens 1 and having plural aperture parts is calculated, and the amount of the divergence of focus is detected based on the peak position of the autocorrelation coefficient and the diverged direction of a focusing position is detected based on the magnitude of the output signal at a position diverged by a distance corresponding to the amount of the divergence of focus. |
