SWITCHING METHOD OF OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PURPOSE:To provide the switching method of the optical connector which can reduce the size and price of a driving means for switching many optical connector couplers connected in butting states. CONSTITUTION:A single or plural optical fibers 7 which constitute an optical transmission line are arrayed at a specific pitch, and end parts of the respective optical fibers 7 are exposed in an abutting end surface 5d; and at least two pin holes are formed in parallel to the array direction of the optical fibers 7 and the optical fibers are connected to another optical connector 5 on the abutting end surface 5d in the abutting states. A positioning pin 3 is inserted into and extracted from one of the pin holes and then the optical connector couples 5 and 5 which are made to abut on each other are moved in parallel relatively along the abutting end surface 5d to switch the optical transmission line. Many optical connector couplers 5 and 5 which are made to abut on each other are arrayed and desired optical connector couples 5 and 5 are individually switched by the driving means 6 which is freely movable in two axial directions in the array surfaces of the array of many optical connector couples.
