PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of providing a fine adjusting mechanism for aligning two rods coaxially in a lamp house by bonding rod type solid state laser media to the opposite sides of rotatory polarizer for rotating the polarizing direction by a specific angle. CONSTITUTION:Solid state laser medium rods 1a, 1b composed of YAG crystal are integrated while sandwiching a quartz rotatory polarizer 2. The quartz rotatory polarizer 2 is also shaped into a rod having substantially same diameter as the rods 1a, 1b. The rod 1a is bonded, on the right end face thereof, to the left face of the quartz rotatory polarizer 2 through optical adhesive and the rod 1b is bonded, on the left end face thereof, to the right face of the rotatory polarizer 2 thus obtaining an integrated rod 1c. Thickness of the quartz rotatory polarizer 2 is set at about 1.4cm in order to rotate the polarizing direction of laser beam of YAG laser having oscillation wavelength of 1.06mum by 90 deg.. This constitution eliminates the need of providing a fine adjusting mechanism for aligning two rods coaxially in a lamp house. |
