HEAT RESISTANT AND FLAME RETARDING PLASTIC OPTICAL FIBER CORD

PURPOSE:To provide a plastic optical fiber cord excellent in heat resistance and flame retarding property. CONSTITUTION:The outside of a naked plastic optical fiber 1 consisting of a polycarbonate resin core and a fluororesin sheath is coated with a first coating layer 2 of a polypropylene-based resin compsn. having 1-35wt.% magnesium hydroxide content and a second coating layer 3 of a resin contg. a vinylidene fluoride-chlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer and having >=200% tensile fracture elongation at 23 deg.C and 100mm/min tension speed stipulated by ASTM D1708. The coated optical fiber is made applicable even to a field in which high heat resistance and flame retarding property are simultaneously required.
