A precision chuck having a chuck body (80), top jaws (92), master jaws (82) mounted in recesses in the chuck body (80) fixedly connected to the respective top jaws (92), jaw actuators (81) engaged with the master jaws, and an air-operated piston or power bar for moving the jaw actuators. Each of the jaw actuators is positioned at the middle of a master jaw and has a pair of spaced-apart actuator leaves (81a, 81b) engaging opposite sides of the master jaw. Further, an improved mounting employing a combination of a threaded screw and concentric tubular pin is used to connect the top jaw to the master jaw. |
