A first computer connected to a torque sensor determines a drive direction and a drive torque of the electric motor to deliver a first direction signal and a torque signal to the motor. A second computer connected to the torque sensor, the road wheel speed sensor and the brake sensor produces a brake operating signal for the ABS, based on these sensor signals, and determines a section direction signal for the electric motor. A logic circuit connected to the first and second computers, produces a direction command signal, only when there is coincidence between the first and the second direction signals. A motor drive circuit is connected with the first computer and the logic circuit, so that the motor drive circuit drives the electric motor in correspondence with the torque signal and the direction command signal. ADVANTAGE - Standardised control system which has simple circuit, produced at reduced cost. Service cost is reduced and reliable fail-safe operation is maintained.
