The invention relates to a configuration for transmitting binary signals over a signal line to a signal detection device, wherein a constant voltage source can be intermittently connected to the signal line as binary signals are generated. To minimize power loss in such a configuration, the discharge circuit (7) contains a switchable current sink (8) which is connected to the signal line (3). The discharge circuit (7) also has a threshold value determination device (19) which is connected to the signal line (3) parallel to the switchable current sink (8).
