Attached to a bracket at the top of the quill is a guide bar (1) parallel to the quill feed movement. Slidable on the guide bar is a stop block (4) with a slider which is urged towards the guide bar by a spring (6). In an inclined slot of the slider is a lock (10) with teeth (11) which engage a rack machined on the side of the guide bar. An adjusting screw (7) in the threaded hole (14) of the slider (5) has a mushroom end (8) captive in the slot (9) of the lock, which can thus be moved relative to the slider by rotation of the screw. The stop block can be coarsely positioned by pulling on the adjusting screw to disengage the lock from the guide bar rack.
