The rafters (2) have apertures in the region of the inferior purlin (1) for shafts (7) continuously coupled over a region of several rafters. Each shaft supports a rectangular ventilation flap (4), filling the space between the purlin, rafters, and roof skin (3). The shafts are fitted with a rotary drive. Pref. each ventilation flap has a brush seal, and each aperture contains a plain bearing for the shaft. The drive may have a spindle motor, or a linkage type arrangement. ADVANTAGE - Reliable, effective ventilation, especially near the inferior purlin.
