Apparatus for machining the insulation 16 of an electric cable 6 comprises a clamp 1 for gripping the cable and engaging the screwthreaded bore of a tube 3 carrying cutters 4, and a guidecollar 2 slidable along a machined part of the cable when the tube is turned, the screwthreads effecting traverse of the tube. A slot 15 along the tube permits its lateral application to the cable, or this may be achieved by making the tube in two parts. The collar 2 and clamp 1 are axially split so that they may be applied laterally. A gauge (not shown) may be inserted through the tube for setting the cutters, which are secured by collars 5 and clamped by pins 11 backed by screws 10. |
