The invention describes a culture medium for the enumeration of (E. coli) which comprises, in addition to a culture medium for (E. coli), a combination of a chromogenic compound derived from indolylglucuronic acid as a substrate of the GUS enzyme and a derivative of alkyl, alkenyl or aryl glucuronic acid, serving as a chromogenic agent. A method for the enumeration of (E. coli) is also disclosed. |
