The invention relates to a process and device for producing a bond between a metal component (21) consisting mainly of iron and a non-ferrous metal component (20) melting at a lower temperature by melting at least one of the two metal components at a bonding point under a protective gas bell by means of a power source, especially an arc (14) with the simultaneous introduction of a filler(25). Here, the melting point or temperature at which solidification of the filler (25) begins (liquidus temperature) is above that of the non-ferrous metal component (20), consisting especially of aluminium or an aluminium alloy. The filler (25) consists of an austenitic steel, preferably based on chromium-nickel. A surface layer of this metal component (21) is melted and/or plasticised to a depth of less than 1.0 mm and preferably less than 0.5 mm, and, partly overlapping it, so is a surface layer of the non-ferrous metal component (20) with the simultaneous introduction of the liquefied filler (25) to form weld a seam immediately abutting the metal component (21) with a predominantly austenitic crystal lattice and a mixed region with a continuous layer of intermetallic phases from the elements of the filler (25) and the non-ferrous metal component with a depth of some 1-20(my)m, especially 6-10(my)m, and an intermediate layer between this mixed region and the non-ferrous metal component (20), from the non-ferrous metal with eutectic grain boundary phases, predominantly from the elements of the filler (25). |
