The invention relates to a configuration for transmitting binary signals over a signal line to a signal detection device, wherein a constant voltage source can be intermittently connected to the signal line as binary signals are generated. Connected to the signal line is a discharge circuit. To minimize power loss in such a configuration, the discharge circuit (7) contains a switchable current sink (8) which is connected to the signal line (3). The discharge circuit (7) also has a threshold value determination device (19) which is connected to the signal line (3) parallel to the switchable current sink (8). The output (26) of the threshold value determination device (19) is linked with a control input (17) of the switchable current sink (8).
