<p>A purified insulin-like protein (ILP) isolated from Saccharomyces cerevisiae is disclosed. The ILP has a molecular weight of approximately 6.4 kilodaltons and the amino acid sequence of the 22 amino terminal residues of the protein has been determined. Computer-assisted molecular graphics analysis of ILP illustrates the similarity of the sequenced portion to vertebrate insulin A-chains.</p> |
