<p>A lithium-free glass composition comprising, by weight: 64 % to 75 % SiO2; 11 % to 16 % total of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of B2O3 and BaO, or at least one compound selected from the group consisting of: Al2O3, ZnO, MgO and CaO; 0-15 % total of at least one modifier compound selected from the group consisting of MgO, CaO, and ZnO; 0-7 % K2O; above 10 % Na2O; and 0.1 to 15 % cerium oxide in its reduced form, as dopant. The glass absorbs harmful UV radiation, wavelengths below 350 mν, but is transparent to radiation above 370 mν.</p> |
