The invention relates to mycoplasmas also having cytopathogenicity specific to said mycoplasmas capable of infecting specifically human CD4 lymphocytes and inducing in the patient carrying them an immunodeficiency syndrome characteristic of AIDS, even in the absence of HIV. They may be used particularly in measuring the sensitivity of the CD4 lymphocytes to mycoplasmas capable of inducing an immunodeficiency syndrome similar to the AIDS type.
