For the effective lubrication of highly loaded seals of propeller drives for ships with two counter-rotating propellers arranged concentric to one another a recirculating pressurised lubrication system is used with lubricating oil guided in the circuit, with the outer shaft seal AA and the inner shaft seal IA being incorporated in series into this circuit, and with the seals being formed as multiple seals with several individual seals, preferably lip seals, which are spaced in the axial direction. The circuit has a pump 12 and a vented elevated container 13 connected to a feedline 14 leading through a shaft outlet tube 3 to the outer shaft seal AA. A feed bore 20 then passes through a shaft sleeve to the inner shaft seal IA. A return line bore 22 leads from the inner shaft seal to the outer shaft seal with a discharge line 17 extending between the outer shaft seal and a ventilated collection container 18. <IMAGE>
