A method of producing a metal comprising uranium. The method comprises reacting a chloride of uranium with sodium vapour to produce the metal and sodium chloride. The products of the reaction are cooled such that the sodium chloride product is below its vaporisation temperature. The metal produced is separated from the sodium chloride. <IMAGE>
