Material intended for processes, cells or electrochemical devices for modulating light by reflection or transmission, the said material having an ionic conductivity and being such that, in combination: 1) it consists of a homogeneous mixture, of solid consistency, comprising the following constituents: (a) a water-soluble salt of salts of at least one metal capable of being deposited cathodically from an aqueous solution of one of its simple or complex ions; (b) at least one originally water-soluble film-forming polymer resin; (c) water; (d) an auxiliary redox couple. 2) it can be formed into a continuous layer of a thickness of between especially a few microns and several tens of microns; according to the invention it additionally comprises at least one interference pigment in dispersed form, corresponding to the desired colour for an image point and/or an image segment with a view to obtaining cells for modulating light exhibiting a colour, especially with a view to producing display devices comprising one or more colours. |
