PURPOSE:To obtain a method for melt spinning in which fiber excellent in uniformity of filament diameter can be produced and this method is especially effectively usable in producing plastic optical fiber excellent in the uniformity and to provide an apparatus therefor. CONSTITUTION:The objective method for melt spinning is to meter a molten polymer with mutually adjacent two metering gear pumps (5A) and (5B) and (5C) and (5D) each in the periphery of a master gear 20, mutually join the metered molten polymer, then redistribute the joined polymer and discharge the redistributed polymer in respectively metering the molten polymer with the four metering gear pumps (5A) to (5D) formed by meshing four pinions (21A) to (21D) at an interval of 90 deg. around the master gear 20 in the center and melt spinning fiber. Furthermore, the objective method for melt spinning plastic optical fiber having the periphery of a core material layer coated with a sheath material layer is to meter the molten polymer in the core material layer with the four metering gear pumps (5A) to (5D) and carry out the joining and redistributing. |
