PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound useful as a pesticide, esp. an insecticide. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula I (Z is 2-chloropyridine-5-yl or 2-chlorothiazole-5-yl; R1 is 1-4C alkyl; R2 is 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxyalkyl), e.g. l-(2-chloropyridine-5-ylmethyl)-2-nitroimino-3-(1-ethoxypropyl)imidazo lidine. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by reaction between a compound of formula II and an acetal of formula III to produce an intermediate of formula IV which is then made to react with a compound of formula Z-CH2-X (X is Cl or Br).
