HEATING FURNACE FOR DRAWING OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE:To provide a heating furnace for drawing optical fiber capable of readily performing the control so as to provide a furnace core tube with a required temperature distribution. CONSTITUTION:The objective heating furnace for drawing optical fiber is constructed from a furnace core tube 2 for inserting an optical fiber preform 1 to be heated, a furnace body 3 surrounding the furnace core tube 2 and a heater 4 arranged in the outer periphery of the furnace core tube 2 in the furnace body 3. The furnace core tube 2 is divided into a heat receiving tubular part (2A) opposite to the heater 4 and end tubular parts (2B) and (2C) opposite to the upper and lower parts of the furnace body 3. A cooling passage 5 is installed in each part of the furnace body 3 for cooling thereof.
