PURPOSE:To rapidly supply ink from which foreign matters are removed into an ink storage chamber without using a pump. CONSTITUTION:An ink filter 30 having a large number of fine meshes therein is attached to the ink supply passage 24 vertically provided to the side part of the ink reservoir 22 communicating with the atmosphere through an air filter 26 at the upper part thereof and communicating with the lower side part of the ink reservoir 22 so as to block the ink supply passage 24. Ink 14 is supplied to the ink reservoir 22 by utilizing the capillary phenomenon due to the ink filter 30 and the ink 14 so that the whole of the part lower than the position of the ink filter 30 of the ink supply passage 24 is filled with the ink 14 and the liquid level of the ink 14 is set to the range from the communication part with the ink supply passage 24 in the ink reservoir 22 to the arranging position of the ink filter 30. |
