PURPOSE: To obtain a heat exchanger of a type where a rigid, unitary, and parallelpiped-shaped core is mounted to a frame for supporting the core. CONSTITUTION: A core 21 is formed by a plurality of thin and parallel plates 26 for demarcating alternate paths for two types of gas flows. Each plate is connected to adjacent plates along a side edge part by a parallel, long and narrow bar 33 with stronger structure than the plate. The core is provided with four perpendicular corner parts, a pair of lower crosswise corner parts 42 and 43, and a pair of upper traverse corner parts. A frame includes a pair of separated, parallel plates and a traverse structure connection member. A seal means is provided between vertical corners 41 and transverse corners of the core and the adjacent surface of the frame defined by the pair of plates and by the structure connection member. |
