PURPOSE:To provide an ink container and an ink passing member capable of imparting extremely excellent storage stability to oily ink in an ink jet recording system using the oily ink. CONSTITUTION:In an ink container consisting of a container main body for receiving oily ink and the cap closing the container main body, the material of the container main body at the part coming into contact with the oily ink is made of glass of which the alkali elution amt. is 0.1mg or less. In an ink passing member where the oily ink passes, the material of the part coming into contact with the oily ink is made of glass of which the alkali elution amt. is 0.1mg or less.
