PURPOSE:To remove irregularities in the optical densities of formed images by providing a development unit with an abutting means which abuts on the base of a groove which is at the end of the side of an image carrier, and restricting a distance between the development part and the image carrier and change in it. CONSTITUTION:The development unit in the vicinity of the image carrier 1 is provided with the abutting means (roller 6) which can freely rotate. When a latent image is developed, the roller 6 abuts on the image carrier 1 and rotates following this. The roller 6 incorporates foam rubber 8 at its center. When the roller 6 abuts on the base 10A of the groove 10, the foam rubber 8 is kept in it; when the roller 6 is caused to run onto one of the walls 10B of the groove 10, the foam rubber 8 springs out to abut on the wall 10B, thereby preventing the roller 6 from springing out of the groove 10, restricting a change in the distance between the development part and the image carrier. Thus, the occurrences of irreguralities in the optical densities of the images, etc., can be prevented. |
