PURPOSE: To obtain an appropriate manufacturing cost and improved performance characteristics by using a core provided with an air gap which is magnetically and physically shielded. CONSTITUTION: An E-type core structure 21 comprises mating segments 22 and 23 on which a gap 24 is formed by a recessed surface 26 and a plane surface 27. Said gap 24 is surrounded by a core material and a wall 25 is formed around whole circumference of the gap. At this point, the cubic volume and other parameter of this magnetic core device maintains the inductance in a large current, and accordingly, the operating characteristics relating to the whole gap core can be optimized. Also, the depth of the gap is set at least at 0.5×10<-3> inch. As a result, the breakage caused by the difference in thermal expansion of not material and the heating caused by the magnetic field coupling can be prevented.
