SLOT COUPLING TYPE MICROSTRIP ANTENNA AND ADJUSTMENT METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE:To increase the mechanical strength of a slot coupling type microstrip antenna and also to improve the exhaust heat effect with use of an earth conductor plate functioning as a heat conductor by adjusting the slot length and setting the thickness of the earth conductor plate at the value larger than a prescribed level in order to ensure the desired antenna characteristic. CONSTITUTION:In a feeding microstrip line consisted of a microstrip conductor 21 and an earth conductor 11 which hold a dielectric substrate 10 between them, when a transmission signal is supplied through the microstrip line, a rectangular radiation conductor 22 is excited by the conductor 21 via slot 30 to vertically radiate the electromagnetic wave onto the surface of conductor 22. When the thickness of the plate 11 is increased, the length of the slot 30 is adjusted to the value larger than a prescribed level within a range of the single side length of the conductor 22. Thus it is possible to secure a prescribed frequency band without deteriorating the impedance matching properties. Then the thickness of the plate 11 is increased and both the mechanical strength and the exhaust heat effect can be improved for a slot coupling type microstrip antenna.
