<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the deterioration in the picture quality by thinning a video signal subject to band limiting. CONSTITUTION:A sampled video signal from an input section 1 is subject to band limiting and frequency conversion by a filter section 2, the signal is thinned at an interval of one sample at a thinning section 3 and the result is outputted to an output section 4. A high frequency component of a vertical synchronizing signal low frequency is converted to a high frequency component of a vertical synchronizing signal high frequency and the result is transmitted, since a reflected distortion by subsampling the high frequency component of the vertical synchronizing signal high frequency is generated in an intermediate portion of the vertical synchronizing signal high frequency, the separation from the transmission information is attained. Thus, it is possible to send a high frequency component in the horizontal synchronizing signal without offsetting a position of a transmission sample signal for each line. Thus, the efficiency of band compression such as orthogonal transformation succeeding to subsample coding is improved while minimizing the deterioration in the picture quality.</p> |
