<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture a device at a low cost and with high yield and to display with high contrast by using a TFT drive system and an STN drive system jointly to execute the display. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with counter substrates holding a liquid crystal layer and disposed to face oppositely, plural gate wirings 3 arranged on a base substrate 1 and source wirings 2 arranged intersecting with the gate wirings 3, a switching element 5 connected to both wirings close to the crossing part of both wirings in respective areas formed by intersecting both wirings and whose drain electrode wiring 6 extends to the area and counter electrodes plural wirings 8 arranged intersecting at every drain electrode wiring 6 on the counter substrates. Then, when a TFT is switched through the gate wiring 3 by the TFT drive system, a signal voltage is applied to the drain electrode wiring of the TFT selected from the source wiring 2, and the signal voltage is held for a prescribed time. At this time, when the counter electrodes wirings are time division driven by the STN drive system, the relevant area is time- divided and displayed.</p> |
