Optical detector and test system for metrological use - has structured plane light source, diffused light source and a matrix camera in same enclosure

The test system has a housing in which is contained a structured plane light source (1), a diffused light(9) source and a matrix camera(15). The camera(15) is fitted with a lens(16) arranged in the housing so as to receive the retro-diffused light from an illuminated object. The signals output from the matrix camera(16) are processed to obtain a combination of measurements and tests in the XY plane of the illuminated object. The average distance from the object on a line segment is measured by optical triangulation. The variations in scale factor are corrected in the xy planes due to variations in distance from the object. USE/ADVANTAGE- Measuring distance, contours on surface of materials; testing e.g. abrasive materials. Rapid and precise three-dimensional measurement.
