PURPOSE:To provide a machine translation device which can output a translated sentence with much higher accuracy by applying the translation rules of much higher priority corresponding to the condition of a source sentence when the same item is registered on a user dictionary or a technical term, as well excepting a standard dictionary. CONSTITUTION:This machine translation device for translating a given sentence in the first language into the sentence in the second language is provided with a translation rule control part 6 for deciding the applied rules by judging which rules in which dictionary has the highest priority among the translation rules of the same index word registered on plural dictionaries 4a-4c. The translation rules of the standard dictionary 4a are added information showing whether the rules are preferentially applied or not when the registered word is overlapped with the other dictionary. Thus, the high-level translated sentence can be outputted. |
