PURPOSE:To sufficiently perform oxidation reaction and reduction reaction of oil by providing a hydrophilic layer formed of only fine hydrophilic part on one surface of a reaction layer in which fine hydrophilic part and fine water repellent part are tangled and contained. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic layer 10 formed of only fine hydrophilic part is provided on one surface of a reaction layer 1 in which fine hydrophilic part and fine water repellent part are tangled and contained. When the layer 10 side of a gas diffusive electrode 11 is opposed to a general electrode, both the electrodes are set in an electrolytic cell, an electrolyte is charged between both the electrodes, and oil is charged on the layer 1 side of the electrode 11 to perform electrolysis, the electrolyte gets into the hydrophilic part of the layer 1 through the layer 10. Namely, the electrolyte becomes easy to get into the hydrophilic part of the layer because of the presence of the layer 10. Although the oil can penetrate into both the water repellent part and the hydrophilic part, it penetrates into only the water repellent part of the layer 1 because it is pressed by the electrolyte contained in the layer 10 and also by the electrolyte contained in the hydrophilic part of the layer 1, and is never leaked to the electrolytic cell side. Therefore, the contact area between the electrolyte and the oil can be sufficiently taken in the layer 1, and oxidation reaction and reduction reaction of the oil can be sufficiently performed. |
