PURPOSE:To provide a wavelength variable optical pulse generator by adopting a diffraction grating as a wavelength branching device. CONSTITUTION:A displacing element 4A oscillates when being driven. An end part 3A of an optical fiber 3 where rare earth elements are added is made free, and this optical fiber 3 is held by a fulcrum 4B. A transmission plate 4C transmits the oscillation of the displacing element 4A to the optical fiber 3 between the end part 3A and the fulcrum 4B. A driving circuit 4D drives the displacing element 4A. The displacing element 4A, the fulcrum 4B, the transmission plate 4C, and the driving circuit 4D constitute an optical switch 4. An optical fiber 16 which transmits the output of a signal source 1 and the end part 3A of the optical fiber 3 are allowed to face each other, and the optical fiber 3 is oscillated, thereby turning on/off light of an arbitrary wavelength component selected by diffraction of a diffraction grating 10 out of the signal light of the optical finer 1A and the optical path of the optical fiber 3. |
