The suction unit/compactor consists of a bin (1) in which the pressure is reduced below atmospheric by a turbine (2), a flexible sleeve (3) for sucking in the containers, and a pusher (4) for reducing their volume. The turbine is positioned sufficiently far from the sleeve to ensure that the containers can drop to the bottom of the bin, while claws (5) keep them in place after crushing to prevent them from returning to the compartment containing the turbine. The energy for powering the bin's different systems can be provided by a transporter vehicle, either by a mechanical or hydraulic transmission system or by electricity. The end wall (6) of the bin can be made to open for emptying and the bin can increase in size towards its opening end for easier emptying. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduces volume of plastic bottles without shredding them, making the easier to separate subsequently for recycling.
