PURPOSE:To perform total inspection within an extremely short time and to enhance inspection reliability by performing a process automatically and synthetically judging an ultrasonic echo and ultrasonic acoustic velocity in a water tank in a method heat-treating a cast product and inspecting the same using ultrasonic waves. CONSTITUTION:Left and right steering knuckles W are set to a jig base to be immersed in water. Movable probes are moved to measuring positions and flaw detecting water is sprayed on the measuring surfaces of the probes from a nozzle 26 to remove air bubbles. An internal flaw is detected by probes 20-23 and the acoustic velosity measuring results due to probes 24a, 24b, 25a, 25b are sent to an automatic judging device. The presence and spheroidization ratio of the internal flaw and the presence of the disappearance of chill are synthetically judged. An alarm is emitted in the case of a defective product and the defective place and content of product can be instantaneously known. The time of one cycle is about 45sec and this inspection method is a mass production corresponding type capable of performing total inspection in-line. By this constitution, inspection accuracy is enhanced and, as a result, the quality of a cast product can be enhanced. |
