PURPOSE:To enable flickerless display by executing 1H inverse driving by equaling the pattern shapes in the light transparent parts of an element substrate and the apertures of a counter substrate in the odd lines and even lines in a row direction. CONSTITUTION:Active switching elements, data lines 1: scanning lines 2 and pixel electrodes 3 are formed in a matrix shape on one side of a pair of transparent substrates which face each other and clamp liquid crystals. Light shielding layers 5 are formed on the substrate facing this one substrate and are driven by 1H inverse driving. The pattern shapes of the apertures 13 of the odd lines and even lines in the row direction of the respective substrates are equaled in such a case. The change in the opening rate of the respective picture elements arises uniformly with all the picture elements of the display screen of such active matrix liquid crystal display device even if these opening rates deviate in the sticking alignment of the transparent substrates and, therefore, the opening rates do not vary with the odd lines and the even lines. Then, the flickerless displaying is obtd. by executing 1H inverse driving. |
