PURPOSE:To enhance the handleability of a calibration substance by using a mixture of steel making slag components containing at least ferrous oxide as a substance for calibrating the measuring accuracy of oxygen activity. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of steel making slag components containing at least ferrous oxide as a calibration substance is used. As the steel making slag components used along with ferrous oxide, two or more kinds of components selected from silicon dioxide (SiO2), calcium oxide (CaO), aluminum oxide (Al2O3), phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) and the like can be employed. According to circumstances, it is pref. to allow said components to approach the components of steel making slag to be measured by adding one of or both of calcium fluoride (CaF2) and calcium chloride (CaCl2) in a very small amt. corresponding to the state of steel making slag to be measured. Since calcium fluoride (CaF2) and calcium chloride (CaCl2) have high water absorbability when their contents are high, their chemical properties become unstable and there is a possibility of the generation of high toxity gas but this problem is not generated when they exist in extremely small quantities. |
