PURPOSE:To provide a discharge lamp lighting device surely stopping the output after a power source is turned off and rarely generating stress. CONSTITUTION:When a switch SW is closed, power is fed to an inverter controller 6, and a discharge lamp FL is turned on with high-frequency voltage. When an inverter circuit 5 is operated, a chopper controller 4 is operated. A capacitor C12 is charged after the switch SW is closed, a transistor Q4 is turned on when the preset time elapses after the power feed from a choke coil L2 is started, the current from a resistor R5 is bypassed by the transistor Q4, and no power is fed to the inverter controller 6 from the resistor R5. The voltage of a booster chopper circuit 2 is not reduced quickly after the switch SW is opened, and the transistor Q4 is kept at the on-state by a capacitor C11 until the current from the resistor R5 is made a preset value or below. No voltage is applied to the inverter controller 6, and the inverter controller 6 is kept at the no-output state. |
