PURPOSE:To set the optimum lamp light quantity in a short period of time and to shorten a period of time until copy is started in a digital color copying machine provided with a means to automatically optimize the light quantity of an exposure lamp. CONSTITUTION:For example, the lamp light quantity of copying last time is stored in a CPU 118a, and a white reference board 60 is read by the stored lamp light quantity before copying of the next original G. Read data at that time is stored in a RAM 118b, and a mean maximum value is obtained by an ALU 118c. The obtained maximum value is compared with the reference voltage of an ADC 113 by a comparator 118d, and the light quantity of an illumination lamp 6 can be changed by controlling a lamp driver 120 only when the maximum value is outside the range of the reference voltage. |
