The front projection (1) of the vehicle bodywork, at a level below the windscreen (3), acts as protection during normal driving, and may be raised, swinging upwards about its axis (4) on arms (2). When raised, the front of the bodywork partly covers the windscreen, and the vehicle is shortened. The front projection is raised and lowered by a motor (5), its movement is limited by stops (6,7), and there are positive locks in the up and down positions. ADVANTAGE - The vehicle's overall length may be reduced for manoeuvring in tight spaces without disturbing the chassis.
