Reducing iron@-contg. material - using reducing gas under pressure in several fluidised bed reactors

Method of reducing finely dispersed iron oxide-contg. material consists of producing a reducing gas by cracking hydrocarbons in vapour form in an almost stoichiometric amount. The reducing gas is mixed with circulation gas which is already heated and used to fluidise the beds in the reactors. The gas leaving the last bed is passed through a washer-cooler unit to remove dust and H2O and then through a CO2 washer to remove CO2 before being recirculated as the circulation gas. ADVANTAGE - A high degree of reduction is achieved without any prior treatment of the material. The method is effective and economical with the amount of energy used.
